Halo is built by Tanmay Sonawane, an independent app developer based in Mumbai, India. Tanmay has been building apps for over 15 years — shipping products across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with a long-standing focus on thoughtful, Apple-native design and tools that respect the people who use them.

Halo is the culmination of that experience: a personal AI assistant built by one developer who cares deeply about craft and privacy.

Today’s AI assistants — ChatGPT, and the wave of cloud assistants that followed — are remarkable, but they share a fundamental trade-off: to be useful, they ask you to send your life to someone else’s server. Your emails, your calendar, your health data, your habits — all uploaded, stored, and processed somewhere you can’t see, governed by terms you don’t control.

Halo was made to prove that it doesn’t have to be that way. It connects to everything already on your phone — mail, calendar, reminders, health, music and more — and turns it into a calm daily briefing and real automations across the apps you use. But it does all of this on your device:

• No backend. Halo has no servers that store or process your personal data — there’s nothing to leak, subpoena, or sell.
• Your data stays yours. Everything lives on your iPhone (and your own private iCloud), never with us.
• Your AI, your keys. AI requests go straight from your device to the provider you choose — ChatGPT, Grok, or Apple Intelligence — using your own subscription. We never sit in the middle.

The bet behind Halo is simple: you shouldn’t have to give up control of your data to get the benefits of AI.
